Our Story

From a small market stall to a trusted name in vintage photography equipment.

Since 2010

Film Folk was born from a simple love of mechanical cameras and the irreplaceable quality of film photography.

What started as weekend trips to camera fairs and estate sales has grown into something we never quite expected. Over the years, we've handled thousands of cameras, from humble point-and-shoots to rare Leicas, and each one has taught us something new about the craft of photography.

We're not just sellers; we're preservationists. Every camera that passes through our hands is carefully inspected, serviced where needed, and documented. We believe these machines deserve to keep working, keep capturing moments, keep telling stories.

What Drives Us

In an age of disposable technology and infinite digital storage, there's something profound about the deliberate act of loading film, composing a shot, and trusting your instincts. Film forces you to slow down, to think, to truly see what's in front of you.

We want to make that experience accessible to everyone, whether you're a professional photographer seeking a specific tool or a curious beginner wondering what all the fuss is about.

Our Values

Quality First

Every camera we sell is tested, honest descriptions only. No surprises, no hidden issues. If we wouldn't use it ourselves, we don't sell it.

Knowledge Shared

We love talking cameras. Questions are always welcome, and we'll never make you feel foolish for asking. Everyone starts somewhere.

Fair Dealing

Whether buying or selling, we aim for prices that are fair to everyone. Sustainable business means happy customers who return.

Preservation

These cameras are pieces of history. We're committed to keeping them working and in the hands of people who'll use them.

The Team

A small, dedicated team of camera enthusiasts and photographers.

Film Folk is run by a small team who genuinely care about what we do. We're photographers ourselves, weekend darkroom enthusiasts, and collectors who've run out of shelf space. If you visit us or give us a call, you'll likely end up in a longer conversation about cameras than you planned. Fair warning.
